RAKs

Most people reading this already know what RAKs are...but for the few who don't, they are Random Acts of Kindness.  This term was coined by a family friend who is one of the nicest people you will ever meet.  Whenever I see an act of kindness I automatically think of him.
Although you may not realize it, people notice the little things you do.  Because of you, a whole chain of RAKs can occur and brighten the day for multiple people!

So my question to you is:  Have you done any good today?

Opera

Right now we are learning about opera in my Music 101 class.
Today our teacher showed us this video.
His point was to show us how high some mens opera voices go.
The video is extremely creepy.
When you watch it you will understand why… but you have to watch it all the way through.
I'm not going to lie, other than the creepiness of this video I kind of like this song
even though I have no idea what the words mean.
Admit it.  It has a catchy beat.
According to Professor Brown it is a modern opera talking about death...hence the creepiness of it.

Sorry to everyone who thinks I'm incredibly strange now.
I promise I only watch it for academic purposes.

Enjoy!

Swerving, Cutting, and Speeding

Walking to and from class is just chaotic.  I have 10 minutes in between 4 consecutive classes on Mondays and 5 on Wednesdays.

I start my day off at Helaman Halls.  From there I travel up a hill to my first class.  This class is held in a huge auditorium with about 400 students.  Thankfully I always get a seat close to the door or else I would be even more pressed for time.  From this class I have 10 minutes to speed walk to the other end of campus (see blue arrow).

With no traffic I could get there easily in 3 or 4 minutes but with thousands of students on the sidewalk it is hard to hurry and not cut people off in the process.

To all those who I cut off while walking- I'm sorry.  I promise I don't do it on purpose or to spite you.

Lately I've been trying to check over my shoulder before I pass some incredibly slow person but I feel funny checking my "blind spot" every time I move into oncoming traffic, because I move frequently.

Naturally I walk at a fast pace.  I think it's because I had to learn to keep up with my dads pace.  So yes I walk fast. But to get to my noon class I have to walk faster so I don't come in late and miss some of the lecture.  If there were speeding tickets for pedestrians I would probably be a frequent visitor at traffic school.

I got a sense of how other people feel when I speed in front and cut them off.  Yesterday I was innocently walking along when some girl came out of nowhere, cut me off,
                                                and started to
                                                        swerve in front of me.
She was texting but even that
                                                                           couldn't have caused her to
                                                                swerve this bad.
I swear she had eyes in
the back of her head to
see where I was so she
                                                                        could swerve some more.

I don't know if she was doing it on purpose or on accident but it was annoying.  Maybe I cut her off without knowing it and she was getting her revenge.  I promise I don't mean to start sidewalk rage.

I think I should stop cutting people off.

Constant voices

I am very proud to say that in the last two weeks since moving to Provo I have turned on my iPod once. And only while at the gym.  I've noticed a change.  My head feels less cluttered and I am just overall a happier person and have a better attitude.

This video says it all-

Sometimes I wish technology wasn't as advanced as it is, because life would be so much easier.

But then again, I guess life isn't meant to be easy.

Shouldn't they have instructions for stuff like this?!

Can anything be more frustrating than trying to figure out how to install a computer program?

I can not figure out how to install this:

Microsoft OneNote 2010

My face is suppose to look confused but I don't think I quite captured that emotion.

Only at BYU

Today Rachel (sister Rachel, not roommate) and I decided to take a break from the library and grab a snack at the Wilk to refuel.  In the Wilk we saw this guy:

I secretly have been looking around for him in the library amidst the "bucket loads of library databases" but alas, that is not where we made eye contact.  I could say I saw a BYU celebrity.  Only here is he probably a celebrity.

******

For our fuel Rachel and I bought some of these:

Walking back to the library we were stopped by a guy who was holding a little orange mamba pack.  Not very many people would catch up with someone who had dropped their candy.  Most would just eat the delicious fruit chew.  Only at BYU would I expect someone to do this (although people everywhere should)

******

My roommate and I put up a mini whiteboard on our door for people to leave little notes for us.  It has cute little magnets, markers, and the cutest mini eraser I have ever seen.

                                                                        This is not our board
                                                                                                   ours is much cuter

Well I noticed this morning that something was missing.  Someone has stolen our mini magnetic eraser.  Only at BYU would I expect this NOT to happen.   I am tempted to put a MISSING poster on our door but, as much as I don't want to admit it, we'll probably be using tissues to clean the board from now on.

Attempting to blog

My mother suggested I start a blog.  She will probably be one of 3 people who actually read about my daily activities, but nonetheless I will attempt to update on my life every now and then.  So here's to you, mom.
